04 Toyota Tundra Vibration When Braking
I have new oem rear shoes and drums also.
04 toyota tundra vibration when braking. The 2000-2003 Tundras had a notoriety among their owners of having a bad front brake vibration. If you find your Toyota Tundra s steering wheel shakes or vibrates when you press the brakes it is almost always the brake rotors that are the cause of the problem. No matter how many times the rotors were turned and the pads replaced the vibration would inevitably come back.
It is the pulsing in the hydraulic lines induced by the out of round rotors that cause the shaking in the front. The fix was to install a bigger brake caliper. There are plenty of other issues that can cause the steering wheel to wobble.
I just traded my 19 4Runner TRD ORP for a 21 Tundra Limited TRD OR AG. Fit 95-04 Toyota Tacoma 4Runner Sequoia Tundra 2PC Front Upper Ball Joint K90255 2795 TOYOTA TACOMA. I replaced my front brakes and rotors about 3-5K ago and put new tires on all around about 3K ago.
After replacing brakes on my 2003 Tundra Limited I have a vibration when braking which i believe is in the front due to my steering wheel shaking. While the vibration can be annoying it is often indicative of a serious problem. One of the more common issues that can occur is a vehicle that shakes when accelerating.
It feel almost as if I have my foot on a cell phone thats set to vibrate. If you feel the vibration in the steering wheel it is usually from a warped rotor. Also the shudder that is common on Toyotas is because of the flex lock up duty cycle control where its never in full lock up only about 70 percent or so.
In late 2002 Toyota finally issued a fix in the form of a TSB BR002-04. As I recall it took quite awhile for anyone to recognize the issue during the early years of Tundra forums. I bought my 2000 Tacoma with what I thought were the classic symptoms of warped front rotors - lots of vibration when braking pulsing felt in the brake pedal.
